canada malting
the canada malting plant was designed by jerome spence, and built in 1905, in saint-henri along the lachine canal. the original building has a neo-roman style, which included arched windows and detailed cornices. interestingly, industrial architecture at the time was built with aesthetics in mind. for example, mock windows were designed in rooms where no light was supposed to enter (due to germination of grains) just to maintain architectural integrity of the building as a whole.
